Hip Hip Hooray!

I’m Ruthie and I wish I could describe my excitement in launching Hip Hip. I think it always felt silly to say that throwing parties is one of my biggest passions in life. But the truth is the truth and celebrations are anything but silly (most of the time).

My family and I moved to Costa Rica, giving it a 1 year trial. We love our home and our life there, but our kids had a harder time, missing their friends and familiar community too much. Now our permanent home will be in Portland, visiting Costa Rica every chance we get. We’re so lucky to have built an amazing community there. Knowing we would be returning to the city gave me the excitement of building what I’ve always wanted and what people have always encouraged me to do: start a party planning business.

On that note, welcome to Hip Hip! My dream is to offer party planning services that fit into any budget. While going over-the-top is sometimes the best and most fun, it’s also simply not possible for every party and celebration. And that’s fine! We can work with a budget of a couple hundred dollars and it will look and feel as amazing as you’ve been invisioning it. Actually, twice as amazing, as you probably wouldn’t have expected a couple hundred dollars to look and feel like it. But it’s kinda what we do at Hip Hip.

Details make us giddy. Aesthetic goals are reached through the tiny things: the way the plates and napkins are placed, serving dishes for food, the shape and size of the invitation and how it is sent out to guests, first look upon arrival…you get the point. We know what the fundamentals are of a party, things anyone can do: send invites, have food and drinks available, and have an overall theme or reason for the celebration. Not everyone, though, has thrown enough parties to know how to source those tiny details, the best places to order invitations, the easiest and most delicious DIY menus, and nails every single unique element that your guests will talk about for years. We take all of that off your plate so your only job is communicating your needs and wants with us and you can truly enjoy the party from start to finish.
